Saint Petersburg is not a warm city, it is why I love sun and, as many people around, wait for that.

Anyway, it is going to be finished soon: all these strong wind, rains, shops with watermelons in the streets... One more summer behind me. I hope, it was nice and was taken with all its pieces.

Somebody decided that their street should be filled with music in those early days of June. It is one of that ancient luxurious combined devices from USSR, I would like to have one. It can play radio, records.
Poplar wool around the Petrogradskiy district of Saint Petersburg (my house is a bit to the right). It was taken during my way from office.
Day of Pushkin city in suburbs of Saint Petersburg.
I visited the most eccentric part of the festival, I suppose.
Petropavlovskaya fortress, this people is trying to take sun baths.

Flowers in my balcony. I am proud a bit to grow these nasturtiums.
Old flowers born in the cold November under the artificial and wrong light of my mercury lamps (yes, they survived in the winter, when I was in Morocco).
Let our streets be more pleasant and full of beauty! Let us forget about grey and boring empty balconies!
The Telegraph. A country without any censorship writes 'news' about a country with one.

When I was young, USSR yet existed, so I know about the censorship a little.

Actually, I did not read newspapers that is a main target for a censorship. But I read children's books, stories about young Lenin (I was surprised how many stories exist). It was a bit strange to open a cooking book and, at its very beginning, to see a huge article about the living standards growing fast, about a number of unique nations in USSR...

But, you know, I think that the most things I saw (except for stupid stories about Lenin) was a quite reasonable thing: Oh, yes, we really had many people and cultures in USSR living together in that real harmony. We had some problems, but just look around: some ex-republics of USSR have senseless argues, some nations have felt to ancient feudal realms.

I heard and I still do that Soviet Union and Russia have this censorship. They do instead of some, I guess, modern and democratic countries. And these exact countries often say these words or give moneys for numerous 'democratic mouthpieces' here in Russia.

All right, I denied reading local newspapers about Russia and tried to find any English sources of 'democratic' news about my country. At the moment, I have my little silent question about my investigations: what is going on?!

Just make this little experiment: open the site of The Telegraph, chose to see news about Russia. I sure, the only articles about the most bad stories, facts. Only Putin as some evil king, only disasters, only bribes. As I understand, this nasty job is done by stupid people that can not even develop a new subject.

I live in the huge country full of people. This people are real people: they love, they look, they speak, run, cry, smile. We have some science, sport, travels. We have lots of events.

What is a reason to say always this bullshit in English newspapers? Why? Yes, I understand, that 'democracy' and 'philanthropy' cover real issues of UK, but is not that stupid to be a country of lies and to have some 'ancient alien' as Russia?

I know that we always where opponents (except for WWII, but Churchill hated Russia anyway). I know that an intelligent fight works for the progress. But this kind of fight is so awful...

P.S. One question still exists: which WWW-newspaper is good to read normal news about Russia?

There are not so many hot days in our summer of Saint Petersburg. Of course, like it anyway: its breath, its mood. People tries to be happy, calm. Summertime means many walks in the city, travels around the city.

Skiing is not very populare in summer, but here you can se an addictive person. :)
Really, trees.
Poplar wool frying around the city.
I love to hate pigeons!

Life after my return from Morocco

There are 5 months since I returned from Morocco to my native city of Saint Petersburg, Russia.

There is something strange about feeling last months: some old friends have gone, some other friends have come. I am changing my life style, habits. It is something to do with my age crisis, maybe. The most thing I care about is not loosing myself and not becoming that boring patient worker/consumer that things quite plain thoughts about money, family.

It is something substituting a normal door to the men' changing room in my home dance studio, Casa Latina. Many people went throuth this door, many people scared this door, too.
Shake it, shake it!
A bridge in Saint Petersburg, early springtime.
That is a local Armageddon in Gorohovaya ulitsa, in the center of Saint Petersburg. It is under reconstruction and looks just great!
One of the cute traditions of Casa Latina: an evening with perfomances from everybody who would like to do them.
Ugly pigeons rinse their ugly bodies in the dirty paddle. Yes, I love city pigeons very much.
I have moved to Petrogradskiy district of Saint Petersburg. It is an island, actually. Full of joy, funny people, small pubs, etc.
It is Erarta exhibition hall, a new place in Saint Petersburg. It is not the whole Erarta, just a piece of some exhibit.
A neighbour of the thing above.

I would like to say some words about Vilnius city where I spent some pleasure days during Harlem'2011 swing festival. Holy smokes, the festival was great and overcrowded. We found that Russian dancers were not used to dance in the real crowd, so there is something to investigate: others danced well and peacefully.

The bad news is that my camera broken in the beginning of my trip, so I rather speak about the city than show you photos. The good news is that I had more time for walking and looking around.

First of all, the city is fairly small, calm and nice. There are few people living (10 times less than in Saint Petersburg, for example). Many flowers, many nice courtyards (but you can be sent away by angry residents).

The other is its food. Mostly, it is much cheaper that in Saint Petersburg. For example, a main meal can cost 10€. It seems that food is tasty. Especially, I would recommend the vegetarian White Elephant (41 Vilniaus gatvė ). It has its own court, good beer, nice interior and many dishes.

You can travel around by foot, the Old City is not very big. There are small streets, museums (be aware: mostly closed in Mondays), churches. By the way, I would like to recommend their basilica of Saint Paul & Peter (1 Antakalnio gatvė). This basilica is a bit distant, but its interior is just awesome. The funny point: there are heads of elephants amongst moulding. Yes, heads of elephants (I am not sure they are mentioned in Bible, but they look lively).

The bad point about Vilnius is this Russophobia. It is great, it is huge, it is crazy and full of sick fantasy. They even have the museum of genocide (yes, they mean the genocide of Lithuanians). I hope, they will finish this strange practice someday.

I have finished the new site about Morocco: MoroccanNook.

Two separate sections are done:

  1. There are my travel notes and photos from many places of Morocco: Sahara, Marrakesh, Agadir, Essouira, the Atlas Mountains, Taroudant, Tan-Tan, the Atlantic ocean, etc.
  2. E-shop representing a little business of my friends. There are many goods from the market of Marrakesh (leather goods, mostly). It accepts credit cards, has 100% money-back. Welcome.

I returned from Morocco 2 weeks ago, it was a 2 month journey. The idea was to avoid all that disadvantages of ordinary 2 week vacancies with rushing through cities, planning trip in advance, etc. Everybody knows what I am talking about.

The 2 month journey is a very different life: I lived with my friends in Marrakesh, sometimes going to countryside, to other cities.  Being calm and having fun. So, I was to Sahara, to the Atlas Mountains, to Marrakesh, Casablanca, El Ouatia, Tan-Tan, Laayoune, Tarfaya, Taroudant.

Eventually, I made the separate site about this trip with sections related to the journey:

Photos
Photos made in Morocco: cities, people, nature.

Travel notes
I made some travel notes about people, their habits, worth places to visit. Hope, it can be useful for other visitors.

So, there is this new game that uses HTML5 features. It is fairly easy to play, but was hard to do. :)

A special page for it is here.

Actually, it is the beta of betas, so please leave your comments here. I would be happy if you leave either notes, opinions or just lols.

Words about code
Sources are reader-friendly with all comments to understand the routine. The engine used (DrawableManager) is mentioned to support different projects with layers of elements. At the moment, it all is under GNU/GPL licence.
At least, my first JavaScript program. For HTML5 users only. :)

Finally! JavaScript & HTML5 are learnt, the engine to operate with 2d planes in 3d is done & tuned.

Some words about HTML5: of course, being programmer, I prefere to operate with JavaScript & canvas elements of HTML5 insted of using Macromedia Flash. Moreover, HTML5 seems to be a technology for the future for a number of reasons.

It would be great if you told me about any problems with this content (and your opinions are very important, too). For those who have HTML5-incompatible browsers, is that special message appears correctly?

Thank you for watching! :)

I just left some wild weeds to grow. One of them was finally identified as an alder tree. :)
No, I could not leave it here and moved it to the quarter where I live, in neighbourhood to other trees. Some laisy flower that made only one flower, naturally. It is what happens if it wants more sun light. Sorry, only 125W of mercury lamps.

First, I would like to tell this small history about these drawings.

It was started just as my attempt to draw. Actually, I planned to draw a lot being unemployed: one or two pictures were mentioned to be drawn daily. Though, I was not any enthusiastic about this idea before I managed to install my old sweet Wacom Graphire tablet to Ubuntu, so it now works perfectly with Gimp.

And now, there are the series about:

'Things that can be used in some circumstances without any reasonable gains and, maybe, making somebody life just more confused and even dangerous'.

Hej, folks :)

There was a time to conclude that this trip to Herrang passed a month ago. And all these photos long to be shown anywhere. So, tro-lo-lo!

In short terms, HDC is the place where people dances swing, balboa, has a fun to be happy or whatever. The life here is as full of all that jokes, events, small odds as it can ever be. It is quite an issue trying to explain it in selected photos (and it is the holy war with my self-conceit not to pour all my photos here).

Nevertheless, let me try. There are photos inside the post:

On the way home, in subway, I have faced that guy once more.

First, I met him at the Lampushka music festival (near to Saint Petersburg, in the forest).
The second time, I met him in a club, and explained where did I meet him before.
That time, I did not recall the place we met before and just talked about his trip to the last Lampushka, made at a different place of the forest.

I meet him everywhere, in the strangest places. His face is so easy to remember, so I just come and say hello trying to explain why/where I met.
It is better to ask him for his name: I sure, we will meet again. :)
